CBS Humiliated After Unable to Find Syria on Map… On Live TV

This is the mainstream media in action.

CBS, the network infamous for trying to take down President George W. Bush with Dan Rather’s pre-election smear in 2004, was back in the fake news business Tuesday night when it aired with an incorrect graphic to go with a story about President Donald Trump’s options in the latest Middle East confrontation.

Then made it worse by changing the video for YouTube without an explanation.

As the liberal website Mediaite first pointed out, the action started when “CBS Evening News” anchor Jeff Glor began a report on a potential U.S. military strike on Syria. In the background was a graphic with the words “Punishing Syria” and a prominent map of … the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Most Americans might recognize Iran as a country that has been a sworn, vocal enemy of the United States since the 1979 revolution that installed Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and one of the most evil regimes on the planet into power.

Most Americans know that it was the civil war in Syria — abetted by former President Barack Obama’s idiotic weakness  — that spurred so much of the “migrant” wave that has engulfed Europe in recent years.

But apparently, those sharp-eyed watchdogs at CBS don’t know the difference.

Here’s a screen grab from Mediaite of Glor’s report as it first aired on Tuesday.

And here’s a screenshot from what is supposed to be a video of the same broadcast as it appeared on YouTube.

There’s no notification on the YouTube version that it is in any way different, but obviously someone at CBS realized how wrong the original graphic was.

Of course, the network had plenty of help, since social media was alight with sarcastic commentary that had to be humiliating for CBS.

Now, a news organization is capable of making mistakes — just like any other human institution, but it’s still worth noting for a couple of reasons.

Do you trust the mainstream media to admit mistakes?

Iran is a country that has played a dominant role in American foreign policy since the Carter presidency, and shouldn’t be the kind of thing an American network makes a mistake about. (The country is so important former President Barack Obama considers his sham nuclear deal with Iran to be a major part of his legacy.)

And a news organization that makes a mistake is supposed to own up to it, by correcting it and letting readers and viewers know that the change has been made.

CBS obviously knew it made the mistake. It obviously didn’t see fit to inform YouTube viewers that it had been corrected.

But the network is among the other jackals that have been savaging the Trump presidency since day one in the evident hope that the country will turn against the 45th president.

Commit a gross error, then try to hoodwink the American people by pretending it never happened? It’s the mainstream media in action.
